I think this is a known spot already to walk in mid-air IIRC, location (just behind the derailment in mystery lake):

Issue 1: Obviously a huge area to "live" in mid-air, where the wolves can't get to you

Issue 2: While the wolves can no longer attack something way above them (as they could in 212 or something), they can still eat stuff, ignoring their Y-axis, you can even steal the meat back right under them:

At the end there were still ~400 kcal left from the that venice.
