    you lost me at realism....

While I think we have enough ways to make fire, he is quite right on the realism.

With what we got in-game, it's totally possible to start a fire,  in real life I find more easy to start afire in the snow or rain using my bowdrill lighter than the firesteel...

Using cured guts, I'd say you can I l'y use them once before they break

Hey, I know how to throw that rope over there, but you have to go upstairs first to throw it away, right? But I seem to have lost hope in Ash Canyon. Because that damn bear took everything from me, and it was because I couldn't shoot him with a helping gun. There's not a lot of hunting on the rope, so I'm looking for other places, so maybe I can live in the mine.

We tried to give you the way up, me in a not revealing way, someone else in a very precise way...

If I'm not mistaken, you missed those messages.

It's "easy" to reach that cabin from the fishing hut.

    Good luck!

  3. Depends on where you are!

But don't do stupid things, like falling off the bridge, or for me, looking how close to the edge of a rock I can go  to see better the landscape...

Maybe just celebrate inside, with a cup of tea!

If you come from TWM and face the rope to PV you can goat down to the left. But be careful, it's easy to fall and it's a long way down. Whenever you move towards the edge, be prepared to counter by moving left in-air.

    Ho !

Funny, I always goat down using the right path, it's possible as well

If you have Astrid with broken ribs, then the short answer to your question is  No.  But (based on my experience till now), the moose is not on the lowest level. Without spoiling the fun of finding the exit for you and others, let me say that to reach Pleasant valley, you would need 2 climbs. One is definitely at the PV-TWM transition. The other, you can decide if the climb down in AC or TWM is better. I prefer the climb down in AC to reach TWM.

    I hope I haven't confused you more.

I couldn't find the 'add spoiler' option, so just changed the text color. Not sure BB/HTML code works and the preview doesn't do anything to hide the text.

    Thanks, it worked I guess.

I'll explore the end of the map I still have to discover, she ll repare her ribs in the time doing so...

I wish now that I'd taken the wolf skins and not only the meat...

I'd have a nice coat at the end of the trip....

  6. I'm. On the lowest, asking if I'll need to climb to reach the escape point...

I haven't found yet where is the exit.. ..

But I'll keep looking, I still have a part of the lowest area to explore, and her broken ribs will heal in the process...

  7. So...

After loosing about 20 poor Astrids to bad weather and poor choices, I finally got there and, on my way back, got two broken ribs, you all know how....

My question, without spoiling to anyone, is, will I need to climb rope to get out of Ash canyon?

Or is it a way out that I still have to discover on the lower region?

    Thanks!

This region is beautiful, but not easy...

  8. "Because the erotic terranes fold as North America plows into them" 😉😉 my corrector does the same...

Looking forward for this new map, but hope it's not as mazed than hrv... I can't get my mind into this region...

Ooh, I didn't know the Hunting Lodge was in the Broken Railroad region. And I always thought that people was talking about Trapper's Homestead, didn't know Hunting Lodge was a whole nother thing. Welp, time to do my research on the matter! 📚

Nice view, big house, not the same standing as trappers...

    Hidden in plain sight

  10. When I get in a house I always check for occupation or dead people inside, as I do when doing real life urbex (luckily for me, only find occupants, no dead...)

As we are the only resident of this island wouldn't it be an add in matter of immersion to find sometimes a "dog" in  random constructions?

Like Fluffy, the faithful guard dog, doing its job forever, even when it's owner left the island...

When spotted, we could choose if we really need to pickup the fight or if we better leave..

Some bones, like bear cavern to warn us in the proximity of the house, maybe?

Or just a warning growl, and we have to retreat quickly to the door. ..

  11. Cross read your messages....

I'm the one who took the revolver from. The fridge, left 3 arrows in exchange....

The shots you heard was me...

5 hits only to scare this wolf...

    Not even hit him once....

Too much shaking from the surprise to meet him face to face around that rock...

I'll try to see this cave near the waterfall

Hope to meet you guys around

First run through Winter's Embrace put me in Pleasant Valley.. I always do random placements when starting a new survival sandbox. Needless to say.. but it was a harsh first couple of days trying to stay warm... now that I am though it's going to be a fun experience.

Finally in pleasant valley for winter's embrace....

I also start random, and I lost my 3 first characters....

    Twm, Twm, and hrv....

    Lasted till the night....

Now in pv, it's relaxing and comfy.....

    I like this map

  13. Just got chewed to death by 3 wolves in the crumbling highway area, so no, not for me....

Battled 2 of them, killed them, slept a bit to heal, next morning was attacked by 3 on a row while harvesting their dead friends....

Sad death for my 150 days survivor
