To someone who keeps up to date with the forums/reddit etc then no it is not an issue. However, using any lure will not only decrease your chance to catch fish as BugReportEnthusiast pointed out, but it will also massively increase your chance to catch any of the new fish. In my loper game I wasted 2 days trying to stock up on vitamin C, only to realise that the lure was hampering my efforts rather than improving them. I had to read a reddit page to find out what was going on which was using some very sketchy data.

Gotcha.  It's a serious issue if you use lures.

That makes sense. It's always felt like such a minority of cases where that would actually work, that I've just defaulted to using the rifle for bears and moose.

I've pretty much used this tactic since the beginning.  It becomes second nature once you get the knack of it.  Besides, it adds some strategy needed.

I agree completely, the only issue I have is that with a bow I need to be close enough that, once hit, the bear will immediately (and with confounding speed) charge at me and maul without (seemingly) any possibility to avoid it...

    Otherwise, for the stats: 548 days / 57 bears / 14 moose.

Position yourself somewhere where: a) he can't reach you, or b) you are on a ledge with a place to drop down to where he can't reach you.  i.e. use the landscape/terrain to your advantage.

HRV's sitting dead continue to surprise me when I find them.  This poor chap doesn't appear to be anywhere ready to survive the rugged climes of this region.  I suspect he may be the unfortunate survivor of one of the plane crashes that I've stumbled onto recently.  He looks ill equipped to have otherwise found himself here in this predicament.  My suspicions seem to be confirmed when I turned out his pockets and found all he had was a metal shard that he was using as a knife and a stale package of beef jerky.  The one thing however that he yielded that made my day was a recipe card for Stalker's Pie.  Looks like the card comes with live ingredients roaming nearby.  Just barely managed to avoid a bear that was close by as I made a hasty retreat!

Amazon had just delivered the long-awaited & coveted Stalker's Pie recipe!  In his excitement and haste to gather the ingredients, he failed to properly plan and equip himself.  Stumbling through the wilderness, he became tired and lost.  "Let me just rest for a minute here..."

But adding a new kind of sealed shipping container to beachcombing which requires extra time to open, but can contain things like flour which would be quickly rendered useless when exposed to the elements. Perhaps require lugging around Tools or Quality Tools and an hour or so sitting out there in the open, to dismantle and open what is a very well-sealed box. In return, the box can contain any kind of loot, from mundane to extremely rare, and it's always at 100%.

Something like we see on TWM?

  6. @PilgrimReaper, @Leeanda,

On Passive wildlife, it's all about position and crouching (since they scare so easily).  I'll use the rifle until lvl 5 Archery then almost exclusively the bow due to the bleed-out (except Moose, on which I will always use rifle).  If you look around enough and spot a good, safe sniping spot in the prey's path, it's actually quite easy to safely get a shot in, then wait for the bleed-out.

A washed up shipping container that you could enter would be neat.  Almost anything could be in there.

Or, more boats with stuff.  A Conex box would unbalance the game a bit, IMO.  Typically would contain TONS of stuff and act as a shelter.  I would like to see some other boat types - perhaps sail boats with a cabin where you could shelter/sleep containing some gear.  Same for medium-sized fishing boats.

Yep. Can easily use up all the flour in the world pretty quickly. Want to use those recipes, that game mechanic, but making enough frypan-foods to traverse the island and back once uses up quite a lot. Whereas, if I just ignore recipes, I can get 35kg+ of bear meat every few days, and just eat that. The recipes are not much use without ingredients.

Oh, I agree, there should be a way to get more FC ingredients!  I'm hoping the trader may fill that role.
