  2. We're still here. Working away on various things, as always. (I try not to say (anymore) "dev diary in X weeks" or whatever because if something comes up internally that delays it, folks just get salty about that.) One cool thing is that you don't have to be snide or a downer about stuff to show how much you love TLD!
  3. Hey all, Thanks for bringing this thread back to life. Re: my posting on Twitter -- no, I don't use it anymore. I've not been too quiet on my reasons why. And "losing" a community there that I spent years building has made it hard to feel much like investing time in other replacement options like BlueSky, etc. I don't think I'm the only one who feels a bit burned out by social media. Honestly it's just been easier to bury myself in work. I've been trying to find a good way to be more active in the forums and be more available again. I hate to sound trite but we are just so *busy* right now, it's been hard to stick our heads up for air. So much going on here and we are slowly working our way towards being able to share more of it, but it's just taking time. Those of you who have been with us for a while know we can be slow about stuff. Yeah, I know. Understatement. 😅 I've not been super happy with our community engagement for a while now, and that's something else we've been strategizing around and have plans for. But, as much as you may feel forgotten at the moment, you really aren't. I do have a dev diary coming which will outline TALES Part Five and give you some other updates (ex. TALES on Switch status), and as I hinted we're working towards some other stuff we're pretty excited to share with you. Apart from that, things are just brutal in our industry right now so a lot of our thoughts are with our friends from fellow studios who are going through hard times with project cancellations, layoffs, closures, etc. Hinterland is fine!! But it's tough to see many of our close colleagues at other studios affected by these mass layoffs and all the industry turmoil. It gets really easy to just hunker down and focus on things you can control, like your work and the stuff that's right in front of you, but I appreciate you gently reminding us that we need to pop our heads up once in a while. Sorry that I've been quiet and that you felt we had forgotten about you. - Raph
  4. Probably leave them and I don't know how many. I'm hoping to keep on surviving so will be killing a lot more wolves...lol
  5. Does anyone know if there's a cairn map for broken railroad?
  6. Vincent 3 was killed by a wolf just outside of Orca Gas Station on Day 2 Vincents 4-12 started in HRV, AC, DP, and TWM and were all suicided. Then, as I teetered on the verge of insanity, Vincent 13 was born... Vincent 13 / Day 1 / For Old Time's Sake Pleasant Valley in as pleasant weather as it gets here. Finally, FINALLY, a spawn that I can survive. I'm not quite certain where I am but I soon get my bearings thanks to a bridge and make the trek over to the Farmhouse. It's mostly uneventful. Looting the Farmhouse, I find a bunch of goodies, including some food, a can opener, sewing kit, toilet water, and most importantly, a Mackinaw Jacket! SCORE!!! I tear down curtains on the spot and repair it up to 100%. State of the badass art. By this time I'm exhausted and its late, although not my preferred bedtime. I eat peaches and syrup for supper and hit the sack.
  7. I finally finished Tales, I liked very much the story, the contaminated area and the new difficulties although after having explored the map I will retire to live in other places less exigent. I leave you a nice view of Enduring Waterfalls and a new toxic sunrise.
  8. I knew that prospecting through the Carter Dam was likely going to be an all-day event. My only concern is that I only have one (only partially full) lantern with me... and a good thorough search of the dam was going to need more light than I have on hand. I was trusting that I would find more inside. Thankfully, I'm still in the habit of getting low before exiting a shelter... there was a wolf skulking around between the trailers and the river today. Feels a bit like déjà vu; like I've done this recently... After just a little bit of time in the foyer, I did check on the weather outside... Looks like a rather nice day, but I still don't really have sufficient clothing... I was getting cold very fast. I was thankful that I would be spending the day inside. I'm really hoping to find some warm clothing, but there's no telling what I might find. It was time to get started in earnest. Do you see what I see? 🤭 At this point, I was no longer worried about having enough light to finish prospecting. I did make my way back to the front of the dam for a quick sort and stow. All told, I was a bit disappointed... I was hoping I would find more clothing than I did. However, I suppose some of the rather nice gear and supplies I did find made up for it. I ended up with a cooking pot, three lanterns, four flares (minus the one I used to search through the lower portion of the dam)... among the other notable items I'd highlighted earlier. 🤭 It was well after dark by the time I got back to the door leading out to Winding River. I suppose I could make a push to get to the far side and make a push for the cave leading to Pleasant Valley... but perhaps it's best not to push my luck with the weather (I still feel the sting of what happened last time, I did that ).
  9. Last week
  10. I recently had a glitch with the travois condition. I carry it around then had deployed it at the Thomson Crossing Community Hall, loaded it up, then dragged it all the way to the Farmstead. It had been about 99% when deployed and was about 82% when I got to the Farmstead. Unloaded it then put it into inventory. Next time I looked at it, a while later, its the condition was 2% ! No problem repairing it so I got it back to 72% but that was close. I did report this. It might have been the condition loss bug that seems to crop up, unexpectedly, every now and then.
  11. Lonely Night 🌑 [dark ambient/music to escape to] (youtube.com) No alternate links available...
  12. This is weird! I notice this in Miner's Folly, but instead reclaimed wood was vanish! I don't now what the trigger is and I never see this with sticks...
  13. I've noticed that as well but it's probably a different issue. Maybe the lifespan and spawning rates overlap each other or more possibly the stick spawn locations don't check to see if there's already a stick there...
  14. ..strange Sticks already seem to spawn multiple times ontop of themselves so this might not be working properly
  15. I don't think this is a bug, you just happened to be in the right place at the wrong time . I haven't dug around in the code to confirm this yea or nay but I'm fairly certain that sticks (and stones, limbs, etc) have a given "lifespan" and when that lifespan expires, they delete themselves. This was probably meant as a counter to an older bug that I've heard rumors of that caused hundreds of sticks to accumulate over time.
  16. Stick Vanish.mp4 This was in Mystery Lake, but it has happened to me in other areas as well
  17. Lousy luck with the weather.. A few days of fish should help keep the scurvy away..
  18. I intended to make my stay as short as possible. I did a quick sort & stow (thinking all the while) and decided to make a relatively quick ring-route before leaving Mystery Lake by way of Winding River. That's a bear just ahead. Duly noted. The Trapper's Homestead had some rather nice gear, it was a good find. The safe was admittedly a bit of a disappointment... just a book and a flashlight. I decided that I would leave small caches of whatever I found in a place. That way I can prospect through, then do a quick sort & stow on the spot, and move on. I figure this way I will stay more agile and decrease dwell-time by not making trips back and forth to consolidate resources at primary encampments. I stopped off at the Lonely Meadow, just long enough to use my two recycled cans (and my mag lens) to prep 2 liters of water. The warmth of the fire was nice too... 🤭 I'd already been here but did stop off for a minute or two... just to try and warm up a little bit. All-in-all, it was a good day.
