Wolves and Guns?

Dear Community,

Do gunshots scare away wolves? If so is there a certain point at which you must fire for that to work? Cause I've tried to shoot wolves, missed, but they still kept coming even though I thought gunshots were supposed to scare them away?

The shots can scare the wolves away, but (like with flares and torches) once they're within the fight or flight radius, or already in charge/attack mode then no the shot in the air won't scare off that wolf.

Use a lure, preferably meat harvested from a deer, wolf, bear or rabbit, as soon as a wolf notices you and issues that initial warning bark. That should give you more time as the wolf investigates the lure and decides whether to eat it (or you).
