Vinceofpyrenees
What do you think to add two new food items : pasta and rice ? Just for the diversity, not to add again more items. It should requiere to cook it during 10 minutes !

Dirmagnos
Non-perishables, including pasta and rice, have been proposed on multiple occasions. So far nothing.
Wasteland Watcher
+1 on this post. Carbs are high calorie and though we don't need this many carbs IRL, in The Long Dark they'd definitely help!! My personal request is to add one of my two favorite Mac & Cheese's:
LeeHarveyOslik
That requires adding some cookware cause you cannot just cook rice on fire. Do you really want to carry quite heavy pan in your inventory?

Also why not throw in an different dish?

Then Hinterland will have to introduce new cooking skill: "Muzhik - the ability to boil rice and pasta in the bare hands"* * That's a reference to Saltykov-Shchedrin's story "How a Muzhik Fed Two Officials" ( Thus day after day passed, and the Muzhik became so skilful that he could actually cook soup for the Officials in his bare hands.) For logical reasons I think it is easiest to think the player cooks in already used cans that appear mysteriously like the water plastic bottles when melting snow (they weigh as much - more or less nothing)

A small pot or pan isn't all that heavy, mate, not for the potential usage you get out of it
