i think that is the idea it is light to carry, full of calories, all you need to do is add water when cooking it.

Also why not throw in an different dish?

Then Hinterland will have to introduce new cooking skill: "Muzhik  - the ability to boil rice and pasta in the bare hands"*

what the? it just another dried packet of food - just like all the others.

For logical reasons I think it is easiest to think the player cooks in already used cans that appear mysteriously like the water plastic bottles when melting snow (they weigh as much - more or less nothing)

A small pot or pan isn't all that heavy, mate, not for the potential usage you get out of it
