support TLD Suddenly Refusing to Start on W10

I purchased TLD about a month ago, everything going fine until about two days ago when launching from steam (as I have always done in the past), TLD refuses to start. Out of nowhere, the game has suddenly decided it will no longer start. I just get "tld.exe has stopped working" and have to close it. 

I have tried verifying game file integrity multiple times on steam, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling it 3 times yesterday. Nothing has worked. 

I am on Windows 10, Lenovo Yoga 12 Laptop.

on mine I had to go to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TheLongDark and right click the tld.exe and properties and run as administrator check box. now it always runs just fine.
