Lovehandel
Every time I pick up pain killers, their condition drops to whatever I have in my pack. I pick up painkillers at 80% I open my bag and the are now stacked with the ones I had previously at 23%
MueckE
It's an old "bug", but it was kind of fixed because all items where this happens don't decay. So it has no impact, painkillers don't decay.
Tejas_Stalker
I started carrying an MRE as emergency food at 21% and 470+ days later it's now at 19%. I have yet to figure out the how and why rate of objects degrading.

For some food, you'll find better decay rates when storing items outdoors in the cold (for others this might have the opposite effect). A 2 percent loss of item condition for your MRE after almost 500 days sounds like a decent trade-off. Currently the world is tuned for decay rates in line with 1000-day game saves. Dirmagnos
Irl MRE have shelf life of 5 years, on average(depending on content and manufacturer), altho its just officially recommended duration, realistically they last for 15+ and are still edible. Hell, there are rations from WW2 that can be consumed today, albeit they mostly consist of dried stuff that can last practically forever.
