falling through title screen terrain on load

my laptop lost power, without closing out of the game. when i reloaded the game, i was falling through terrain (frightening) and landed in the title screen map without taking damage (baffling).

i still appear to have everything in my inventory that i had before (wolfskin coat, deerskin clothes, rabbit mittens, some wolf meat, tools, etc) with the addition of a few starter-tier items

all status bars remained the same, though the hunger bar had a downward arrow without any sort of visible effect

i saw a different thread with the same issue (i think?) but i can't find it now, and i think the 'fix' still erased all progress
