When I first encountered this problem, I thought to myself now how did that damn wolf get in there since wolves can't open doors either and the solution worked itself out from there...

I think this is great.

I also thought that I couldn't get back into the Dam and just kept going forward. I don't remember what happened in that playthrough, but it probably didn't end well. 

The thing is that The Long Dark is all about making decisions. And how do you make them? Keeping your eyes and ears open. And that I think is great. 

With so many games naturalizing just going straight without thinking, what Hinterland is doing it's great.

I think that the best skill you can learn in this game is watching and hearing everything.
