Probably more on the warmer side But yeah, it's interesting to see how far people were technologically speaking 5300 years ago, not to mention how much better at surviving they were than the average human is nowadays. An expensive wardrobe indeed! I wonder what it took to get his hands on that warm hat?

Otzi is from the "copper age" so the tools and weapons used would have been very sophisticated. But then again, why go looking for your prey when you can make your prey find you? So a trapping pit would've likely been used. During these times in humanity's natural history, people had already began to settle into towns and cities but still relied quite heavily on game for protein. After all, why kill your own livestock for food when much of the surrounding wilderness had not yet been converted into farmland.

After all, why kill your own livestock for food when much of the surrounding wilderness had not yet been converted into farmland. Good points. I liked the idea that the Iceman's clothes could be evidence of efficient crafting, but also desperation: "But Oetzi's motley wardrobe, including a coat made from at least four separate goat and sheep hides, could also suggest a more haphazard and desperate approach - stitching together whatever scraps of skin were available." Sometimes you go with what you've got on-hand.
SteveP
A single goat skin would not be enough to make a coat; goats tend to be small. The most important tools he carried were for fire making! In survival, fire is life!
