alone sniper
Hi guys !!!! How you doing? So , we decided to discuss the dog breed !! so first read topic below! And , which type of dog do you think we need ???
PallasD
I personally am looking for a dog that can hunt, survive harsh weather, and defend me as well as itself. I can't have a dog that can only do one or the other or else my companion just won't survive at all. I wouldn't have done the poll as such, more so pick dog types and listed their pros and cons, but this will have to do. My list would have to include: Alaskan Husky Canadian Eskimo Dog Russian Bear Dog** Alaskan Malamute Anatolian Shepherd Rhodesian Ridgeback Most of these dogs were originally bred for hunting and can live in very cold climates. As far as protection, they each are known to be very loyal. They each would be an amazing companion as each has their own ability to take charge in a game like TLD! Ape88
I would agree with your list, Pallas. though I think Siberian Huskies should be added to the list. They are not the same as the Alaskan Husky.

This list is good but I think we need dog which can pull sled !!! so Husky can be a good choice! " kill 2 bird with one stone!!! "

They even look like wolves.

LloydNoise
Mate, give me a Dalmatian any day. Great guard dog and great instinct for hunting. If not then a cesky fousek, as a wirehaired dog they can cope in the winter and they're great at hunting big game.
ElvisHunter
I currently own a Greater Swiss Mountain dog and feel they would be well suited to this role. Cheers
continuity
No dog please. Unless you can kill and eat the dog, maybe then.

akodo1
Rhodesian Ridgeback is a breed I recommend to people living in warm climates, not cold. I'd suggest the various hunting laikas. also check out this movie if you want to see a man in the cold wilderness with a dog companion - Happy People a Year in the Taiga https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1pOjj49d9Y

WildGPS
Forgive my ignorance of this Forum, but is there a way to see what the results of the poll are so far? I'm just curious.
Dirmagnos
It seems that all polls disappear into the blizzard to never be seen again once you respond to them.

SteveP
A dog? Well I'd like a cuddly little Dachshund but it would be useless in a fight, bark at the bear and make it attack us, run and hide behind me when there are wolves around and growl at the door whenever there's something interesting outside. It should also bark in the middle of the night, just to annoy and wake me up but should be warm and cuddly and boost my spirits when I'm alone. Hey! That's exactly like MY dog Teckle! I wouldn't eat my pet dog; I'd eat your dog however!
