Weapon Usage

I was wondering what item's can be used as a weapon (Besides the bow and hunting rifle), because I heard that the crowbar can be used? I just need some clarification.

The crowbar will be used as a defensive weapon if you go up against a wolf, and do not have a knife or hatchet.  Not really much chance of it happening though I'd say.

The bow and hunting rifle are the only lethal ranged weapons currently ingame. Revolvers are on the roadmap for the next 6 months, too.

The flare gun could be defined as a ranged weapon as well, but it's nonlethal and should thus be used as a means of self-defense only. 

Regarding the melee weapons, @starfighter441 is right. During a wolf handfight, you'll automatically equip the best weapon you currently have in your inventory.
