Does fir have a repair use after the Timberwolf Mountain update?

Before the update, tools + scrap metal + fir would repair the knife, hatchet and rifle. Now the knife and hatchet are sharpened with a whetstone, and the rifle is cleaned with a cleaning kit.

So, does fir firewood have any other repair or crafting uses, or can I go ahead and just burn it without worrying that I'm wasting a valuable resource?

I dont think so.

I made few runs up to 60 days, and I never had to use fir for crafting/repair.

The scrap metal use is also very limited now, so their abundance in the world is not a balance issue anymore.

The fir wood is still needed to repair heavy hammers. The only place you really need a heavy hammer is the forge in Desolation Point. I left one there so I don't have to lug it around. If I need to repair it I just find a fir limb to break down on the map.

What about the hacksaw?

Repair only with scrap metal. That and harvesting (for scrap metal, duh) are the only two options for the hacksaw.

Thanks for the answers. Sounds like I don't have to hoard fir for repairs anymore, I'll save some for long-duration fires instead.
