  1. the ability to use annotations....meaning I could Drop a flag (a dot, anything) on the image of the map (you save the annotation overlay in a file maybe using xml?) the x,y of your app window by pixel I guess.

so in the screenshot you have on your project page for ML, there is a red dot, that is where you are I presume (have not loaded the tool yet) So you give me a button that is Mark this spot, I get a few characters or one line of text in a text box. You save the text box info along with the pixel info of where I am, then you have an icon that indicates a note saved for that spot. you overlay the icons on the map image based on the x,y of each note. click the icon and the note appears (maybe better as tooltip?)

    just a thought.

  2. 1 hour ago, Carbon said:

While I applaud the endeavor and execution, I can't help but scratch my head at the usage. It seems to me that much of the appeal of the game is the navigation; be it the lack of it in the beginning or the expertise involved after learning an area, this really seems to be akin to - I dare say - a cheat.

Please don't misunderstand me: use it if you like and as I said, it is certainly an accomplishment in itself, but I'm not sure that it agrees with the developer intention of the game.

Not going to disagree with @Carbon. It is very cool program and idea. However, @Carbon, isn't reloading a saved game or quitting before you die (and it saves) pretty much the same thing? ...  "akin to - I dare say - a cheat?"  :-) many players do that. Bottom line, as has been said ad-nausium in tons of threads, tis your game, you bought it, play it the way you wish to enjoy it. :)

@Sofox really nice idea. You might consider a feature that allows a player to plant a virtual flag on the map or marker, so they can mark places for reference?  They can simply pretend it is their way of "writing their own map"

  3. I think the challenge is to get you used to each map and strategic spots on the map. Most people attempt it early on. Your stay in each place says NOTHING about consecutive days or hours.... just total time.....use the time you are at some of the spots to explore and rest there only. that way you get your hours but accomplish other things along the way. just an idea.

  4. @Pillock I love pushing that to a week in each place and would add taking your idea one step farther, each challenge could be accomplished at each level.....some would be not as big a deal but others, yeah significantly harder. It would be a nice change of pace for players between builds to try and test those things out too.

  5. The Mad Maxx stuff was rather long winded and boring. Might want to give yourselves a list of what to cover.

My expectations of the first podcast would have been an intro to who you guys are, some background on TLD/Hinterland and it's team.

Then maybe some tidbits on what has gone well and what you have learned from the things that have not gone well. Maybe some behind the scenes stuff like....we thought of this feature to implement started coding it and the testers beat it up and we looked at it and finally said...WTF were we thinking....tossed it in the bin and started over....

It's a nice idea thought and nice to hear that you guys are normal like us.....my Dad's 386.... like what % of the audience would be able to say that? lol.....yeah I predate them...repaired them in high school lol.....started gaming and sector editing copy protection etc in wizardry back in the apple II days.... right there with ya!
