MichelleAna
Do you have any recommendations for how to purify drinking water when camping?
UpUpAway95
Do you mean IRL? If so, there is now a very compact filtering device made expressly for hikers. It's a great alternative to iodine tablets. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post brand names here, but it's the only way I can think of describing it (so, please be aware there may be other equivalent brands of the same sort of device out there and this is not a brand specific recommendation). The one I'm familiar with is called a LifeStraw.

This isn't the place to post this, but filtering devices in addition to Iodine and other water purification tablets are the best way. Boiling water as seen in the game can kill germs, but won't get rid of any heavier elements. To truly purify water of this dirt/salt/radioactive material you need to build a condenser that boils the water into steam and then condenses the steam back into water in a separate container. Alexabartel
Boiling water is a simple and effective way to purify water for drinking. There's nothing to it: Collect the water into a pot or other container, put it on the camp stove, and boil it at a full boil for at least one minute (at least 3 minutes at altitudes above 6,562 feet). https://iwaterpurification.com/best-water-purification-tablets/
