A fresh start

i recently purchased the long dark on steam, but i'm gona be honest, i used to play the pirated version. now i want a fresh start, but after installation i found the saved game is still carried over to the proper version. how can i get a fresh start, without any feats, challenges, story or survival mode saves?

Just register the legit TlD key to a new Steam account. If you used the key on the same account you used for the pirate version, nothing will change. Feats, Saves and everything are linked to your steam account, not the game key.

Why bother with new account... I suppose simply deleting your save/config data should do the trick.

For Windows, do the following:

1. Important - disable Steam Cloud sync for TLD.
2. Navigate to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Hinterland\TheLongDark\ and nuke everything in there. Your saved games should be gone now.
3. Launch the game at least once; you can re-enable Sync after that if you want.
4. Do pirated versions register achievements? If so, and you'd like to reset those, probably you'd go for a new account like@MueckEsaid....
