Pillock
Bit of a joke, this, but it's been running round in my head for the last few days. A Long Dark version of Old Kentucky Home (I like Ry Cooder's the best): Killing time making fishing line, I've turned a corner and I'm doing fine. Shooting at the wolves on the railway line, Picking them off with this gun of mine. Got a fire in my belly and a parasite, But I don't care, cos I'm alright. The wolves I've seen are grey and mean and they never seem to go away. Always come across them when I'm out each day, Always do my best just to keep them at bay. Got jumped last night but my hatchet won the fight. And I don't care, cos I'm alright. Moon shines bright on my old Camp Office home, And the dead folks lie on the floor. The moon shines bright on my old Camp Office home, Keep those hard times away from my door. Mr Bear lived without a care by the pond where the cattails grow. I shot in the shoulder with my hunting bow, And I haven't seem him there no more. Guess he took my arrow and died somewhere, But I'm alright, so I don't care. Moon shines bright on my old Camp Office home, And the dead guy's slumped on the floor. The aurora lights up my old Camp Office home, Keep those green eyes away from my door. So I'm killing time making fishing line, Sipping rosehip tea and feeling fine. Shooting at the wolves on the railway line, Taking pot-shots with this gun of mine. Got a fire on the veranda and a fire in my head, Til the matches run out. And then I'm dead.
