Spent the last couple of days up in my favorite tree perch waiting for Bullwinkle to make his appearance.  Yeah, crazy isn't it?  you wouldn't expect to be able to make a campfire up on a tree limb, but if you build it just right, Viola, heated deer stand!

Here's the view from below.  High enough up to avoid anything with teeth or claws...

anyways, made my shot, lost my arrow in the process and like an omen from the Gods, the fog lifted to reveal this magnificent beast!

Two hours later, Bullwinkle yields 9 quarters each at 9.3 kilos.  Gonna be eating moosey for days...

Whew, just toss it up on the porch for now.

Just as I am getting done lugging all that meat back to camp, I am out gathering some firewood so I can start processing all the moose meat, when I spot Rudolph  just strutting right up to me as if I wasn't there.  So I shot him in the face...

Here's when quartering actually means quarters, lol.

After all the hard work, It's time to do a little gourmet cooking caveman style.  Tonight's menu is rock roasted Moose fillets with charbroil seared Venison cutlets.  Only the choicest cuts get to grace this banquet featuring a hot tomato reduction sauce and twice baked beans.  A freshly brewed hot beverage will help to keep the chill away as you enjoy Al Fresco dining Timber Wolf Mountain style.

I got some groceries, some peanut butter, to last for a couple of days,

But I ain't got no speakers, ain't got no headphones, ain't got no records to play...

Very cool! I like the way you made it into a little story. What are you going to do with the moose hide? Satchel or cloak?

Well my first thought is to see if I can use the "cure in place" glitch to cover the hole in the roof at the Mountaineer's Hut.  I already covered the window using 4 deer hides.  Not sure if the hole is to big however, so I have a bear hide and a couple of deer skins to try to "cure" as well.  Then if the moose hide doesnt work, I think the most useful thing would be the satchel.:)
