Close call

So, day 250ish on my "Let's finally actually get the 500 day achievement" run. Having just traveled from HRV, I've just changed out what gear I'm taking, and left the Trappers Cabin to go hang out in TWM for a bit. Walking into the little valley by Max's Last Stand, towards the Camp Office, I don't see any bear, so I continue on, no longer paying much attention. 

*ROAR*

He was in the cave. 

HE WAS IN THE DAMN CAVE, and now he's 15 meters and closing fast! 

Oh, and I'm wearing most of my really GOOD gear. Mucklucks, combat pants, ear wrap... the kind of stuff that you can't replace if it gets wrecked. 

Can't run, can't hide, and I've never had that great an aim with the bow. But there's nothing for it, so I take my shot, just as he's about to reach me. Basically point at the head, and pray to R.N.Gesus...

That must have been an adrenaline rush.  Nice take down. So sticking around an extra few days then to cook up some bear and cure a hide?

Absolutely! I'm in that stage of the game where you're never in a rush. Repairing my fancy clothing at the mountaineering hut before it rots can wait!
