The_Mighty_Spiggy
So, recently during my Wintermute play through, I've encounter what I believe to be a bug... I am unable to cook food/melt snow at any fire anywhere...the options to add fuel/take torch are still there, but the options at the top of the screen to melt snow and cook food are no longer exist...this is extremely frustrating and I would appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks in advance!
stratvox
Cooking has been overhauled. You need a "Recycled Can" or a "Cooking Pot" to be able to melt snow into water. All fires/stoves/etc have cooking slots you can place them on and pack with snow to make water. If you find a canned good and eat it, you'll end up with a Recycled Can in your inventory and you're good to go.
omoon66
The most recent update changed cooking. You need to place a recycled can in your inventory on one of the stones of the fire. You can go into your backpack and drop the can or food and then move it, or use the radial menu. The can is in the campcraft section.

RossBondReturns
Also you can find recycled cans from time to time in the kitchens of houses.
MarrowStone
@The_Mighty_Spiggy, Also dont forget you can still pass time until done by clicking the cooking food and selecting it in the menu. There is plenty to do while it cooks in the early days, however.
