Forum question: Is it possible to block a spam poster's content?

5 posts in this topic

My sympathies to you, having to deal with these recent spam posts.  While these posts are dealt with, is it possible for me to block the posts of these profiles?

Example:  Back when The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) had a forum, they had both a Report feature and an Ignore feature.  Whenever a poster was added to the Ignore list, all of their posts would be filtered out.

If such a feature exists here, how do I use it?  If not, could we have one?

If you hover your mouse over the users name, you'll get a window pop-up that gives you the option to ignore the user.

See the attached screenshot.

Although really, once the moderator/admin becomes aware of the spammer, they're posts are deleted as well as their account, so seeing their posts is only temporary. Usually only for a few hours tops.

So it just seems to me to be a bit redundant, but your choice may be different. Soon your ignore list would be full of users that don't exist.

I always click on Unread Content when I come to the forum so it's easy to skip over the spam posts.

Thanks for the info.  Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available on the Mobile version (or I just don't see it).

Yeah, that list would certainly build up, unless I did the occasional "house cleaning."

Thanks to those that reported it. Usually we'll catch it first thing in the morning when we do our initial browse of the forums.

That sucks. I'm on a PC so I guess I see things differently. :)
