hello i'm back playing this awesome game having alpha & beta tested it for hinterland long time ago now just got back into playing it again . started with mystery lake again lasting 71 days so far went through the carter power station ended up out back of it then down onto the river found a cave system then ended up in pleasent valley :-) now trying to find my way back south to mystery lake where all my stuff is any clues please . old gamer ken .. love this game from the 1st moment i tried it out ... well done hinterland ..

Welcome back.  To answer your question, you can just backtrack.  When you get to the dam, you actually have to CAREFULLY walk across the dam on the little narrow walkway, climb up and through the window.

You could also go far into Pleasant Valley and reach the entrance into Coastal Highway.  Once in Coastal Highway, the path to Mystery Lake is short and quick.
