Cattail flour and fire cakes

I've been considering what could be done with the cattails in a late game scenario (besides straight eating them) and with some googling it appears that you can actually make cattail flour. If you have an abundance of cattails in a late game sandbox scenario why not turn it into cattail flour, store it outside (apparently you can freeze flour) to give you a months long shelf life, and then pull some out to make ash cakes as needed. Now I've never had cattail flour based ash cakes, but in the spirit of the cattail stalks description, I'd bet it still wouldn't taste too good.
