Cannot Launch on Mac; Black Screen

Ever since the .423 Faithful Cartographer Update, The Long Dark has not been launching properly on my Mac. As soon as I click play, the game tries to open; the axe icon appears in my dock, the window goes to full screen, but then it gets hung at the black screen. Nothing else loads; no logo, or intro video. After a few seconds, the game is assessed at not responding. I have tried verifying the integrity of the game cache, and that didn't work, so I then uninstalled and reinstalled, but that didn't work either. Every time I try to launch the game; black screen, stops responding, nothing happens. Any other ideas on how to fix this? My system is a Mac OSX 10.9.5 Yosemite.
