All progress lost

I was playing last night and died.  It was my only saved game, but I had several days of playtime (survived 90 days) and had made significant progress in unlocking badges (30-35% all around).  Not only that, but the completion status of my challenges was wiped (I had completed The Hunted, pt 1 and the first one, the flare challenge) and this morning when I started up The Long Dark through Steam, it prompted me to adjust my brightness as well as changed my options from Imperial back to Metric.  Yesterday after I died, I checked the journal and such and all of those stats were still there.

 

I don't suppose the New Year may have had something to do with it?
