Midnight sun

I returned to the Camp Office just as night was falling, carrying a lit brand so that I would be able to see my way around the gloomy interior.

While eating and drinking before bed, suddenly the lights came on. For a moment, I thought the building must have been surrounded by armed police with searchlights, about to breach the door. Or perhaps an alien spacecraft was landing outside? Maybe even an aurora event was happening? I rushed outside to see what was going on, but nothing out of the ordinary: dark, cold, windy, snowing lightly; a startled deer ran towards me in fright.

On returning inside, it had gone dark again.

I don't know what triggered this, but I was performing inventory actions while holding a lit brand at the same time when the lighting changed; I think it was also when the time changed from "less than one hour of daylight left" to "10 hours of darkness left". Unfortunately I didn't have the presence of mind to test whether I could read or do clothing repairs.
